Among the main missions of Free Mind Foundry is to transmit knowledge and interest in new technologies, providing advanced theoretical-practical training, tools, resources and support for the development of one's professional career in various digital fields.

Since its inception, FMF has been a promoter of the virtuous training-employment cycle for the construction of skills that are now increasingly indispensable for accessing the world of work. As has already happened in the past and in addition to the constant visits of the Campus by students from schools and universities, Free Mind Foundry is once again preparing to welcome young people to accompany them in "Programs for Transversal Skills and Orientation" (PCTO), provided by the Ministry of Education for students in their final year of high school.

The educational importance covered by these projects lies in the possibility of coming into contact with the most modern working contexts, so that the new generations can approach working life in an interactive, easy and fast way.

Free Mind Foundry: una fucina di nuove generazioni digitali

Students from the Liceo Scientifico “Principe Umberto” and the ITIS “Ferrarin” in Catania were recently hosted. Furthermore, in the coming weeks, classes from high schools and universities in the Etna province will visit the Campus, including some UniCT university students and students from the "Archimede" Technical Institute of Catania.

But what is the objective of PCTOs and why are they so important in the training path of new generations?

First of all, the main objective is to provide students with the opportunity to learn more about solutions, technologies, working methodologies, products, services and markets, interfacing with multiple professional figures within a single Hub of contamination and talent, inspiring its users in choosing their next steps in their career and life.

Starting from April 3rd until May 8th, FMF will host the kids from the IIS "Francesco Redi" of Paternò for the first PCTO (Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation) activity of 2023. In this period, 17 kids will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in the world of software development.

The PCTO involves the direct involvement of young people within the work processes. Specifically, since it is not a training course consisting of lessons, they will support experts and professionals from the BaxEnergy, Intellisync, Digital Atom and WiSNAM companies in a series of daily work activities such as "Data Dashboarding with Streamlit". Based on the skills gained over time, the kids will be selected to cover different roles within various development teams.

Thanks to the work and training experience at the FMF Campus, the students will therefore have the opportunity to get to work on real projects, live in a dynamic and highly innovative working context, and acquire technical and transversal skills such as the ability to work in a team, time management, problem solving and the ability to work towards objectives while respecting delivery times.

Finally, the PCTO represents an opportunity to create a network of useful contacts for their professional future. Living in Free Mind Foundry means discussing and networking on a daily basis.

FMF is committed to continuing to promote digital culture and innovation in our territory and beyond, offering training and professionalization courses aimed at students, but also professionals and entrepreneurs, contributing to the development of the digital sector in Italy and in many other countries around the world
